Spikes

In lighter news, yesterday I brought home a new friend - a stuffed porcupine from 1953!
Look at that face, isn't he cute?!

Fearsome claws!
The case he was in, while great for protecting him and keeping him in great condition (he's nearly 60 years old, according to the date on the back), is an aesthetic horror. I plan to rebuild it into a Natural History Museum-esque diorama box, with crown molding and a nice label. But for now he is just chilling in my living room.

That's so cool. I bid on a stuffed owl a while back on eBay, didn't win it though! Every self-respecting artist needs a stuffed creature!

Ooh, bummer on the owl, hope you run into better luck next time! I actually was given a barn owl by my neighbor (I think he just wanted to get rid of it and felt bad throwing it away), and it was in terrible shape. It's still in pretty bad shape, but I managed to clean and fluff him as much as I could. I figured I could at least try to give his dignity back!
