Building lives

Here's some progress news for the Belladonna edition.

I ran into a few manufacturing snags which held up the process a little bit, unfortunately. The two biggest issues were a near-failure of the silicone mold used for casting the face (which I was able to work through, thank goodness).  The other has been the absolute non-cooperation of the weather, producing steady downpours almost every day for the past month.  Not only is it rough when I have to be outdoors for some things (priming, spraying, sanding), but it also builds up a lot of humidity which does not play nice with casting resin!

However, I'm happy to report that I'm finishing these steadily and I'll have them all shipped within the week!  My apologies for the extra few days this added to everybody's wait time - I know you're probably eager to have these, by now, and at this point I can confidently say, they are almost there!

Here are some pictures I took this past week  - everything is at a much less attractive phase now, but I wanted to share some process shots with you...

Crate of faces - the box is 4" deep, and filled to the top!

Left: ears all pinned together before sewing. Right: body pieces ready to be sewn.

Vial of scent blend, which will give a soft, dark fragrance to each Belladonna.

Yaaaaaay! I'm happy to know that Belladonna will be on her way soon.

Don't worry about the delay. We all know that you've been working hard on our bunnies. Some things just can't be controlled. I'm just glad to hear that things worked out ^__^

No worries! I knew it was a pre sale. Feel very lucky just to be getting one.

Your bunnies are so very captivating! I went to etsy but it appears you are on vacation. ;o(
So, do you drill out the eyes to enable you to put the glass eyes in your resin cast faces?
I really want to learn to cast my own sculptures in resin.

Hi ODD :)

The Etsy site is actually my other business (I make soap), but it's been put on hold so I can make more critters!

The eyes on the Belladonnas are resin as well - they were cast from a glass-smooth surface, and keep that glossy look when they are painted. For the one of a kind dolls, I use painted glass eyes, but the resin faces are all resin - face, teeth, and eyes. Casting is a whole lot of pain in the butt, but the reward is very high when you see what you made :)
