Thousands of frames

Back in December, I was approached by a film director/animator from Australia named Christopher Kezelos, and he asked if I was interested in designing and building puppets for a new stop-animated short film he was working on. Ever since then we've been collaborating on the puppetry efforts (as well as some random sketching and title-card making), and at long last, all the frames have been shot, and it's into post-production!

Here's the title card that I made for the film - I designed the logo (based on the elegant typography on the cover of an old 1895 book I have in my own collection) and embroidered it onto linen with cotton thread. I frayed the edges and took a photo of it against some old wood. Pretty pleased with the look, and it was fun!

Click to biggify...I might have to re-examine embroidery as a hobby, this was enjoyable!

It is SO unreal and exciting to see my creations come to life - I've seen some top-secret clips of the animation, and it's surreal...the eyes move, the ears bend, the limbs have life, seemingly all on their own! The animation is fluid and the world is so believable...I really can't wait for people to see this, so I don't have to suffer in secret excitement!

All those little drawers, books, bricks, boxes....I've seen a few things that aren't on the page, too, and they're equally impressive. Wait until you can see his little workbench, it's beautiful!
